By Andrea Sowers QueenAndrea_2000@yahoo.com March 19, 1999 Jessie stretched her arms as the sun blazed down on her face. As she yawned she looked around. *Where am I?* she thought as she realized the scenery wasn’t her familiar surroundings. “JJJJEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSIIIIIEEE!” someone screamed. “Ah,” she groaned as she climbed out of the bed, almost stepping on Brent. “Brent?” “What?” he asked groggily. “Why are you on the floor?” “Because you were in the bed.” “Ok, so why am in the bed?” “Because you fell asleep while we were talking and I didn’t have the heart to wake you. Though I wish I had. You think with all the money you guys had you could afford a more comfortable floor.” “JESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSIIIIIEEEE!” “COMING!” she yelled back. “I swear,” she muttered as she opened the door. “What?!” “You have a phone call. And it’s about time you answered! I’ve been calling you for the last ten minutes!” cried Race. “Sorry, I was sleeping,” she answered as she walked past him. “Hello?” “Hey, Jess, its Anna. I hope I didn’t wake you. “Oh, hi, and don’t worry about it. So, what’s up?” “Well, you know how you invited us up to the Quest Mansion?” “Yeah.” “Well, I, er, I mean we were wondering if it was still open.” “Of course!” Anna laughed. “Oh, good! I was hoping you would say that.” “Why? Are you guys planing to come after all?” “Well,” started Anna, “I guess you could say that.” “That’s great! When are you guys planning on leaving?” Anna coughed. “Um, well, early this morning.” “What?” asked Jessie confused knowing it was close to midday already. “Jessie, er, I’m calling, er, from the Rockport Airport.” “What? Ohmigosh!” “It was Alex’s idea! I swear she worse then you sometimes!” Anna said rapidly running her words together. “Anna, slow down, slow down. It’s no big deal. I’ll, um, just inform my family and I’ll be over to pick you guys up. So, STAY PUT!” “We will,” replied Anna. “Good. See ya in a few.” “Ok, bye.” “Bye,” replied Jessie as she hung up the phone. “Um, dad.” “Yeah?” “Remember, how I told you how great my roommates were and how I couldn’t wait for you guys to meet them?” “Uh-oh, Jess, I don’t like the way this is sounding.” “Well, you see. I kind of invited them to stay her the other day, since they were spending Christmas without their families.” “And?” “And they’re waiting for me at the Rockport Airport.” Race sighed. “Well, you’d better get dressed and pick them up. I’ll inform the others that we have more guests on the way.” Jessie kissed his cheek. “Thanks dad! You’re the best!” she exclaimed as she ran upstairs. Race shook his head as he watched his daughter dash up the stairs. “Sometimes I wonder about that girl!” Jessie burst into her room and quickly changed into a black sweatshirt and jeans. Then she went into Brent’s room. “Hey, Brent. Anna just called and her and Alex are waiting for me at the airport so I have to go pick them up. Wanna come?” asked Jessie without taking a breath. “What? Huh? No, you go ahead. I just want to sleep.” “Ok, I’ll be back in a little bit,” she said as she dashed out the door. “Hey, where’s the fire?” asked Jonny as she ran into him. “My friends are waiting for me at the airport!” cried Jessie. “So, MOVE IT!” “Whoa, ok. Hey, you want some company?” “I don’t care, but my butt is leaving now so if yours ain’t following its being left.” Jonny laughed. “Right behind, ya,” he said as they rushed down the stairs. **** “So?” asked Alex as Anna hung up the phone. “She’s on her way. And don’t you ever make me do that again! I swear! It was your idea, you should have been the one to call!” “Well, you just happen to be better at that kind of stuff then me.” Anna rolled her eyes. “Whatever! You just a big chicken.” Alex laughed. “When it comes to Jessie, yes!” Anna laughed. “”So, she wasn’t upset or mad or anything?” “Um, well, a little shocked, surprised, but upset or mad, no.” Alex sighed. “Good.” “Oh, but she does know it was your idea.” “What?’ Anna giggled. “You told her?” “Well, lets see, I believe I said, “It was all Alex’s idea!” So, yep, I guess I did tell her” She smiled. “Oh. man!” “Relax! You’re no worse then her. We at least called. We could have just shown up at her doorstep.” “Yeah, I guess, but still this is just about to the same degree.” “I suppose, but she didn’t seem upset on the phone. But of course, it was rather sudden and she probably didn’t have much time to think about it. But on the way over….” Anna gulped. “Exactly.” “Alex, I swear I’m gonna kill you! How do I let you talk me into these things?” “How do I get you into theses things? How do I get myself into this things!” They both sighed. **** Jessie scanned the crowd looking for her two friends. “Do you see them yet, Jess?” “No,” she sighed as she continued to scan. “I swear I’m gonna kill them.” “So, do all you friends just show up unexceptionally like this?” Jessie shook her head. “No, usually Anna and Alex aren’t this spontaneous! They tried to talk me out of coming unannounced like I did. There they are!” she exclaimed as she spotted them sitting by a wall. She walked over to them. Anna was the first to see her. “Hiya, Jess!” Jessie glared at Anna and the Alex before she replied. “Come on lets get your stuff and get out of here!” Anna and Alex looked at each other and shrugged. “I thought for sure she was going to blow up at us,” whispered Alex. “And are you two nuts?!? What are you guys thinking? You could have called before you left this morning! Then at least I could of meet you guys!” Jonny laughed. “You know Jessie. Maybe you’re starting to rub off on them.” “What?” Jessie asked looking quizzically at him. “Well, think about it. Who arrived at the Quest Compound at two in the morning unannounced? And wasn’t even going to tell anyone until she walked down to breakfast the next morning!” Jessie glared at Jonny. “That was different!” “How so?” “Well, --“ she started. “That’s not the point!” Jonny laughed. “If that isn’t the point, then I don’t know what is.” “The point is, they should of called!” “So should have you!” “Jonny.” “Yeah?” “Shut up!” Jonny laughed as he turned around. “By the way, I’m Jonathan Quest, but my friends calls me Jon or Jonny,” he said smiling. “I’m Alex Bernard,” replied a short, blonde-haired girl. “And I’m Anna Viomet,” added the other girl. Jonny glanced over at Anna as she brushed back her dark, brown hair revealing her violet-colored eyes. He couldn’t help but stare, she was gorgeous! “Jonny, you know it’s not polite to stare,” giggled Jessie as she poked him in the ribs. Jonny’s cheeks turned a little red. “It’s, um, nice to, um, meet you,” he muttered as he quickly turned away. Anna smiled. “Likewise.” Jonny glared at Jessie, but she just smiled back with a sly-like grin. “Come on guys, let’s go home,” she said as they grabbed their luggage and head towards the exit. **** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from this mailing list, or to change your subscription to digest, go to the ONElist web site, at http://www.onelist.com and select the Member Center link from the menu bar on the left.
