From: Nicole DeGennaro Finally, I have started the fanfic again. And I might as well warn you now, that this fanfic get EXTREMELY GORY!!! (Not in these parts.) But don't worry, everybody dies a true and bloody death...::Evil Laugh.:: I amaze myself sometimes. Rob: You never amaze me. Nicole: Shut-up!! PART 8 (Makes sense, right?) *She’s fooled me one too many times.* Jonny thought as he closed the window with a rather loud BBAANNGG. He walked over to his bedroom door and left the room. "I’m not staying in there if I can’t have privacy. Let’s see…can’t go on the roof, since that’s probably where they’re stationed. I always have the lighthouse, the kitchen. Hell, I could even go in the car." Jonny said aloud. He decided he’d stay in the house. *This is sooo boring. And Jessie is getting extremely annoying.* He looked up at the clock. 4:36. *Wow. That much time gone? Dad’ll be gone in an hour or two. I need to go somewhere go where he won’t look for me.* Jonny sat down to think of a place to go. *My bedroom.* Was his final decision. He decided that that was better then his dad staying home because he thought his son was and insomniac. He trudged back into his bedroom, just in time to see two figures creep across the balcony. Jonny smiled slightly. *Let’s teach them a lesson that they’ll never forget.* * * * * * * * Hadji didn’t see Jonny’s bedroom door open. He was too busy following Jessie across Jonny’s balcony. But he knew something was going to go wrong. "Hadji! Could you move any slower?" Jessie hissed at him. He snapped out of his thoughts, and moved across the balcony in a very cat-like motion. "This is going to go bad, my friend." Hadji stated. "Like nothing has before." Jessie said as she peered into Jonny’s room. They were in the corner of the balcony. *Jonny couldn’t see us if he tried.* She thought smugly. Until she took a closer look into Jonny’s room. "Hadji! Why didn’t you tell me he closed the window?! That was the bang we heard before!! Now how are we going to get in?" "I have a feeling that we won’t have to." "What?" "I’m not sure yet, but I have this very disturbing feeling." Jessie sighed as she thought of a way to open the window again. * * * * * * * "This is gonna be great." Jonny whispered to himself, as he crouched behind the far end of the bed. *They couldn’t see me if they tried.* Jonny thought to himself. He just laid low, knowing that if he waited long enough, Jessie would get impatient, and try to come back in through the window. Hopefully she used the way Jonny expected, so his plan would work. *Of course I can always make a new one if she doesn’t.* He thought smugly. He waited…for a good hour. The he finally saw the movement he was waiting for. Two shadows came lurking out of the darkness. One was slender, the other was more masculine. Jonny smiled. *Now it’s time to teach them a lesson.* He thought as he held back a laugh. * * * * * * * "Let’s face it! Either he discovered out plan or he’s not in the room." "I believe he is not in the room. With his impatience, he wouldn’t have lasted longer then us." "Do you have any idea what time it is?" "Not a clue." Jessie walked over to the window, and inspected the place where she had left the stick. It was snapped in two. Jessie sighed, as she faced the facts. "Either we go through the trouble of going through the front door, or we break the glass." "Unless Jonny is in there, and is willing to let us in." Hadji pointed out hopefully. Jessie laughed. "Yeah, right. After how mad he was before? We wish." She shivered suddenly, and added, "Although I wish he would, it’s getting colder by the second." "Actually, it’s getting warmer." "Oh, you know what I mean!!" Jessie looked for at least one other option for getting into Jonny’s room. When none came, she decided to use the front door. "But that is always locked, my friend." Hadji pointed out, after Jessie told him her conclusion. "But after Dr. Quest leaves, I can tell you that we’ll be inside." Hadji sighed, as he shivered. *This isn’t one of my best nights.* He thought to himself, as he followed Jessie down the rope, and off the balcony. * * * * * * * PART 9 "Great!" Jonny whispered to himself as he saw Jessie and Hadji climb off the balcony. "They’re going to use the front door!" Just as he had planned. Jonny knew Jessie wasn’t dumb enough to break the window. But just then, Jonny heard a noise outside his door. *Oh, no!! I forgot totally about Dad and Race!!* He thought hurriedly, as he climbed back into bed. *Stupid!! I always overlook the smallest factors!! And they always cause me the most trouble!!* He was about to smack himself upside the head, when he heard his fathers voice from outside the door. "I’ll be right down, Race. I’m just going to check on Jonny." "Okay, Benton. But don’t wake him." "You should go check on Jessie." Jonny’s door opened, and his father walked in. "Jonny?" He whispered. Jonny pretended that he was sleeping, but his father didn’t buy it. "Jonny, I know you’re awake. I heard you up at 4:30. You think you were the only one awake?" Jonny positioned himself so all his weight was on his one arm, as he leaned on his had. "No." He replied casually. Benton walked over, and sat on his bed. Jonny rolled his eyes, though it was too dark for Dr. Quest to notice. *Get ready for a lecture.* Jonny thought. "Jonny, I just want you to know, that during the days I am away, you can feel free to call me………" And Dr. Quest did the same thing he does every time he goes away for a week or more without Jonny. Lists the things he can and cannot do. What to do if this happens, what to do if that happens. Jonny sighed at the end of the lecture. His wrist was hurting form being in the same position too long. "Benton?!" Race yelled up, "If you wanna get to the airport on time, we gotta go now!" Benton stood up reluctantly. "Just remember, Jonny…" Benton stopped. Jonny had fallen fast asleep. * * * * * * * After a bit of work and cunning, Jessie and Hadji had worked their way back into the Quest Compound. It was almost quarter-to-six, and they hadn’t gotten a wink of sleep. Jessie yawned, and turned to Hadji, who was sitting on the sofa, half asleep. "Tiring work, huh?" Jessie asked sarcastically. Hadji yawned, scratched his head, and just stared at her. "No, not really." He said, obviously not picking up the hint of sarcasm. Jessie sighed as she sat down next to him, and pulled a thermal blanket up around herself. "It’s colder then I thought it was." She stated nonchalantly. She was just about to nod of, when they heard a scream from upstairs. "HADJI!!!!! NNNNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!" Jessie jumped up, and bounded up the stairs, followed by Hadji. * * * * * * * Jessie stood outside Jonny’s door, banging on it. "Jonny!! What’s wrong?! Let us in!!" Jonny was still laying in his bed, in a cold sweat and shaking all over. *Oh my God…okay, it was just a dream…nothing more.* He thought to himself over and over. He would’ve said it aloud, but he was afraid of finding out he couldn’t speak anymore. *Just thank God that I locked the door after dad left.* He laid in bed and stared at the ceiling, not knowing what to do. But he did know that sooner or later, Jessie and Hadji were going to pick the lock on his door, and come right in. Absent mindedly he’d probably tell them about the nightmares, and Jessie would laugh. Hadji would call his father and tell him that they were going to schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist. Jessie was still banging relentlessly on the door, practically whining to come in. "Jonny, come on! We’re not gonna do anything to you!!" "Jessie, if we are to get into Jonny’s room, then we will have to find our own way in." Hadji stated blandly. Jessie stepped away from the door. "Hadji, you better have a plan, or…or a trick up your sleeve." "Oh, but I have nothing ‘up my sleeve’. I prefer to carry it in my hand." He stated, as he showed Jessie the bobby pin he had been holding. "Now, if you’ll let me over there, we can find out what is bothering Jonny." "Yeah, if he’ll talk." Jessie retorted. She crossed her arms over her chest stubbornly, and waited for the door to swing open. When it didn’t, she walked over to Hadji. "What’s going on?" "This method doesn’t seem to be working." "Well why wouldn’t it?" Suddenly, the door swung open, to reveal Jonny leaning against the frame. "Because I was trying to get some sleep. Don’t you guys know a set-up when you see one?" Jonny stated, with a tinge of sarcasm. Jessie was about to snap back her not-too-humble answer, when the someone knocked at the front door. * * * * * * * Jessie was the first to be down the stairs, and at the door followed by Jonny, the Hadji. She opened it with caution, to reveal… "Bobby?" Jessie said with some dismay. His teeth chattered. It was unusually cold. "Umm…Come in, I guess." Bobby walked in, and looked around. "Nice place. Nicer then mine is…or, was." He stated in correction to himself. "What brings you here?" Hadji asked, oblivious to the fact that Jonny had stalked away. *This just gets worse,* he thought as he walked away. *First those dumb dreams, now one of the people I hate most.* "I…um…I came here to warn you about something." Bobby stuttered. Jessie snorted her disapproval. "What could you possibly warn us about?" She stated. Usually she wasn’t so harsh, but the way the night had been going, how was she to know that Bobby wasn’t part of whatever the ‘something’ was that he had to warn them about. Bobby turned around abruptly to face Jessie, eyes flaring his hatred out at her. "Look, either you want the advanced warning, or you don’t. And to inform you, I had a far worse day then you have." "Sure." "Did you have your father killed today? No. Well guess what. I did." Jessie didn’t take the least bit of sympathy out of that statement, but instead she stated, "Where’d Jonny go?" "Well, I am very interested in the information that Bobby has to tell us." Hadji said, defending the newcomer. "That’s because you don’t go to school with him." Jonny said as he came out of the kitchen. "Well, anyway, there’s a man, the one who killed my father, and he’s after your dad." Bobby stated as he nodded towards Jonny. "So we shouldn’t worry. Dr. Quest isn’t home." Hadji stated smugly. But Jonny had frozen in place. "Is he coming here, or going after dad?" Jonny asked in a hurry. He was pale, and in a cold sweat. "I only know half the plan. I know that he’s coming here, to get you to maybe force your dad back here. But for all I know, he could be there already. Or he could be going after him. "Why are you so concerned anyway? I mean, about this whole thing. I’m surprised you even believe me." "Jessie, get your dad on the uplink, NOW!" Jonny yelled as he ran down the hallway towards the door and out to the lighthouse. Hadji, who was left with nothing to do for the time being, asked the one question that Jonny and Jessie had forgotten to ask. "What is this man’s name?" "Charles Zanden." Hadji sat down at the laptop computer that had been sitting on the coffee table, and started to type frantically. When Bobby walked over, he shook his head. "Don’t bother. I already did it." "What? You already checked the government files?" "Yup. It’s not that hard to hack, ya know." * * * * * * * PART 10 "Did you connect with them yet?" Jonny asked urgently. "Hold on…" There was a slight pause, then, "Got it!" Jonny ran over to the computer, waiting for his dad to ‘pick-up’. When no reply came, Jonny shot an accusing look at Jessie. "You’re positive you were connected?" Jessie tapped the computer screen in the corner, where numbers were assembling and changing, then re-assembling. "We still are." Jonny ran out the door towards the house. * * * * * * * Bobby was being held by his shirt-collar, lifted an inch or so off the ground by Jonny. "How did you know this?! How did you know this was gonna happen?!?!" Bobby only looked the slightest bit terrified when he looked at Jonny, and saw that his eyes were smoldering. Bobby swallowed hard. "My dad…he had me hack your fathers’ government records so Zanden could see them. Then he asked my out of the room, and dad told him that I went to school with you. Zanden lost his temper, then shot my dad in the face." "Why did he leave you alive?" "He wanted it to look like suicide, not double homicide." Hadji walked over, and place a hand on Jonny’s shoulder. "You don’t want to do something you will regret, my friend. Zanden may attack sooner then we think, since I’m almost positive that he knew Bobby was coming here." Jonny tightened his grip for a second, then dropped Bobby. "Sorry." Jonny said coldly. Bobby stood up and dusted himself off. "No problem." * * * * * * * "Jonny, why are you so worried? I mean, there has to be a logical reason for your dad not answering." Jessie stated. "You’re not gonna understand if I explain it to you, so I’m not going to waste my time." Jonny retorted as he paced back and forth. *Let’s just hope that I’m paranoid, and that my dreams weren’t actually visions.* he prayed silently. "Hey, Jonny. Why don’t you just sit down and stop pacing? You’re going to leave a ditch in the rug." Bobby stated sarcastically. Jonny shot a look at him, and the said, "If you knew what I knew, you’d be pacing too." "If you told us what you knew, then we could help you get it off your mind." Jessie snapped back. Jonny sighed. "You’ll laugh." "We promise we won’t." "Isn’t that what you always told me when I didn’t want to tell you something? And guess what happened. You laughed." "Well this time I won’t." "Yeah sure." "The soup is ready." Hadji called from the kitchen. *Just in time.* he added silently, *I felt another argument coming on.* "Security system shutdown…." Iris’ voice stated. Jonny spun around and ran over to the computer console. "Iris, reboot security NOW!" "Request denied." "What?!?!" Jonny yelled furiously. He hit a few keys, and sat down to watch the security cameras for the past ten minutes. When he was done, he sighed and scratched his head. "What did it show?" Jessie asked as she handed Jonny his soup. "This has to be wrong." "What did it show?" Jessie pressed again. "Nothing." Jonny stated confusedly. "Absolutely nothing." "I have one question." Hadji intervened. "Why would Zanden be attacking in broad daylight, when anyone passing by could see him?" "Just look out the window." Bobby stated. "There isn’t anyone passing by. My guess is that he closed a portion of the road, so no one would see anything." "Great!" Jonny hissed. "Just great." "You know what, Jonathon Quest, I am not going to let this problem stop me from figuring out what’s wrong with you!! And I think it has something to do with this!!" "Well, your right. But I don’t think that that’s the important thing right now! We need to close all the shades." "Yeah! Zanden’ll have sharpshooters up on the catwalk." Bobby said as he pointed to the lighthouse. Hadji went over and peered out. "But how do you propose we do that. There are only four of us, and there are plenty more windows." "Well firstly, we want to pretend that we don’t know Zanden’s out there. So we could pretend we’re cleaning the windows, but we can really hook a wire on the rings. Now, if we use the same wire to go through all the windows, we only need one person to pull the end, and they should all close simultaneously." Jessie said as she walked over to the coat closet, where she found some wire. "This looks long enough. Now, we need one person to go around and weave it through." "I’ll do it." Jonny said without a second thought. "But he’ll try to shoot you. You three are his main target. Let me." Bobby stated, trying to convince Jonny to reverse his offer. "Look, I can guarantee you that I will not die. At least not now." Jonny reassured. And he had a good reason to. In his visions, as he was now calling them, he had not died while stringing wire through the curtains. He had died from a simple gunshot wound to the head. At point blank range. "How can you guarantee that?" Jessie asked stubbornly. "I’ll explain after I get done with this." Jonny said as he grabbed the wire and approached the first window. * * * * * * * "Zanden, sir. I have one of the targets in range. Open fire?" One of Zanden’s lieutenant’s reported. "Which one." "The blonde, sir." "Let me see." He pulled up the binoculars and looked through. "He’s washing windows?" "Yes sir." The lieutenant nodded. "No. Don’t fire. It would be too obvious. Besides, didn’t we plan to hold them hostage? Not kill them…yet?" Zanden asked, and waited for the reply. The lieutenant didn’t answer, as he realized that he had disobeyed commands. "Well?" "Uh….Yes, sir. We did decide to hold them hostage, sir." "So why did you want to open fire?" "Well, sir, I……forgot, sir." Zanden turned to face the lieutenant, and glared at him. "Well don’t forget again, or I’ll show you how ravaging ‘open fire’ can be." "Y-y-yes sir." The lieutenant stuttered as he rushed off. "I need to find myself smart lieutenants." Zanden muttered to himself. "Zanden!! Sir, the boy isn’t washing the windows!! He seems to be doing something else, but we can’t identify what!" The same lieutenant yelled as he returned to his post. Zanden ran over, and snatched the binoculars. "So he is. He seems to be carrying some sort of fishing wire or something." "Should we try to get into the house?" "At least you’re asking more intelligent questions now. No, not yet. We’re sticking to the plan. Now, onto the next phase. We can’t have them phoning anyone from the outside now, can we?" PART Oh wait....I can't give you *that* yet!!
