Oh, dang, he thought, and unbuckled his seat = belt.=20 Benton gathered up his bags slowly, his palms sweating, and then came = out of the=20 Dragonfly. He looked up, and then he saw HER. She was even more = beautiful than=20 he remembered. Her long, blond hair was shimmering in the sunlight, and = her blue=20 eyes sparkled with happiness. All at once, she seemed to be flying = towards him=20 like an angel, and gave him a big hug. "Benton! It's so good to see = you!" Sarah said excitedly. She released him from the hug to get a = better=20 look at him. "You look wonderful!"

Benton found his tongue. "S-so do you," he = managed to=20 say. She looks so different, yet so much the same, he found himself = thinking. I=20 wonder if she is still the same wonderful person, and if she is=20 still…Sarah's exclamation cut him off. "This can't be = Jonny,=20 can it? The Jonny I held and played with when you were last here? It's = so nice=20 to see you again, Jonny! How are you?"

Benton watched as his son enthusiastically answered,=20 "Great! I'm all ready to go and explore the pyramids, Ms.=20 Richards!"

Sarah laughed. "Well, we won't get to seeing the = pyramid=20 until tonight, Jonny, but I'm glad you're so excited. And please, call = me Sarah.=20 And who are these three, Benton? I don't remember them from your last=20 visit…"

"Oh, this is my adopted son, Hadji Singh, = and…"=20 Benton was cut off by an ecstatic Sarah. "THE Sultan of Bangalore? = I am so=20 happy to meet you Hadji! Welcome to Egypt! I think you are doing an = incredible=20 job ruling. Thank you so much for taking time off just to visit=20 here."

Hadji blushed and told her modestly, "It is = really my=20 mother Neela who is doing all the work. She is the one who is ruling = Bangalore=20 for me while I am away."

Benton cleared his throat, and Sarah turned back = towards him. He=20 didn't mean to be rude to Hadji, but Race seemed very anxious to be = introduced=20 to her, and was embarrassing Benton with all of his urgent signals. = "Sarah,=20 this is my bodyguard, Race Bannon, and his daughter, Jessie=20 Bannon."

Sarah extended her hand to shake Race's, and he bent = down to=20 kiss it. "The pleasure is all mine," Race started to say. = Sarah drew=20 her hand away before his lips could touch it. "I'm sure it = is," she=20 said with a hint of frostiness in her voice, gave Benton a look that = clearly=20 said, "Where'd you get this guy from?", then turned to = Jessie.=20

"Hello, Jessie. How was your flight?" Sarah = asked.=20 "Just fine, thank you, except for an unfortunate accident on = the=20 plane involving Quest World…" Jessie gave Jonny a murderous = look.=20 Sarah, sensing the possible murder she might have on her hands, quickly=20 interrupted. "Well, you all must be pretty hungry! Let's go to the = Pyramid=20 Café. It's very touristy, but I think that you will all enjoy=20 it."

"Okay," said Jessie, and then mouthed to = Jonny,=20 "You were lucky this time, Quest." With that, they all piled = into=20 Sarah's van, with Benton sitting in the seat beside her. When they = reached the=20 café and had all ordered the waiter came with a message for = Sarah. She=20 skimmed over it quickly, then told the group apologetically; = "Something=20 just came up. I don't think I will be back for a couple of hours. = There's a=20 marketplace over there if you would like to go see it, but there's not = much=20 else…" Her voice trailed off, and she gave a helpless = gesture about=20 having to leave her guests so soon.

"I'm sure we'll find something, Sarah," = Benton=20 reassured her. "Go ahead to whatever you need to do. We'll meet you = back=20 here when the meeting is over."

"Thank you, Benton. I'll meet you back here at = seven. Have=20 a good time!" Sarah called out as she headed out the door. The = waiter came=20 back, bringing plates of food and setting them down in front of each=20 person.

As soon as the waiter left, Jonny asked, "Hey = Dad, why are=20 we here anyways? I didn't know that there was anything around here that = really=20 needed investigating, unless there's mummies walking around in the = middle of the=20 night."

"I really don't know why Sarah wanted us to come, = Jonny,=20 but I don't think that she wanted us to visit her just for = pleasure." Dr.=20 Quest told him. "Why don't you kids go on out to the market place = and look=20 around? Race and I will stay here."

The three teens reluctantly shuffled out of that = café.=20 "I know what that meant," Jessie said a little angrily. = "You're dad is probably telling my dad why we're here, while we = just have=20 to stay outside and go to the market place. I wish they would = trust us=20 and tell us what's going on!" She kicked at the sand beneath her = feet as=20 they walked, making little clouds of dust rise up from the sand. =

"He who is faithful with little things will be = faithful=20 with bigger ones," Hadji quoted, "and none of us have been = overly=20 responsible." Jonny and Jessie both instantly remembered an ugly = incident=20 with an expensive glass on an airplane and winced. They turned off of = the main=20 street and turned down onto a side road that they soon found led = straight into=20 an alley. "I don’t think there are anymore stands down here. = Let's go=20 back," Jessie suggested.

When they turned to go back, an old, wrinkled woman = was blocking=20 their way. . She smiled at them, exposing yellowed teeth. "Welcome = to=20 Egypt." She spoke in a mysterious, soft voice. "I have = something for=20 you. Since you all would like to be a part of this adventure, you = shall."=20 Deftly she slipped a tarnished bronze necklace around each of their = necks.=20 "For you," she turned to Jessie, "the ankh." Then to = Hadji,=20 "For you, the sacred cat." She finally turned to Jonny and = bent close=20 to his ear. "And for you, Jonny, the akuaba doll." Then, in a = louder=20 tone, she told them," You will find out what these things mean, and = you=20 will know what to do when the time comes, but for now, my children, = follow me.=20 Your fathers are looking for you." They followed her silently = through a=20 maze of passages and streets until they came to the front of the = café.=20 They turned to thank the woman, but she was gone. Jonny fingered the = necklace=20 and said, "This is too strange for school! That woman knew my name! = And how=20 did she know…" Jonny was cut off by his father.

"Jonny, Jessie, Hadji, where were you? We've been = looking=20 all over for you. Sarah's been here for about ten minutes waiting on us, = so come=20 on." Dr. Quest impatiently led the teenagers back to Sarah's van. = What a=20 wonderful impression I'm making, he thought sarcastically. The ride to = Sarah's=20 house was unusually quiet. Everyone stared out the window at the rapidly = darkening Egypt landscape. Sarah tried to lighten the silence by = pointing out=20 certain plants and animals, but soon gave up.

They finally pulled about 40 yards away from her = house, which=20 was ten miles away from the next house. The last bits of sunlight were = peaking=20 over the sand, and they all quickly got out of the car. "Stand over = here,=20 all of you," Sarah directed, pointing to a spot about three feet = away.=20

"Why are we so far from the house?" Jessie = whispered=20 to Jonny, and then, as the sun completely sank, Jessie quickly said, = "Never=20 mind." The dark house had started to shake, and suddenly a pointed = top=20 pierced the middle of it. A massive pyramid slowly burst through the = house, it's=20 wreckage sliding down the steep sides. When the monstrous building = finally=20 emerged fully from the sand, its huge doorway was just three feet away = from=20 where they were standing. A loud exclamation of "Fur on a = catfish!"=20 was heard, and then Sarah turned to Benton, who was gaping at the = structure.=20 "This, Benton," she said with a little smile, "is what I = wanted=20 you to see."

Celestia: Let's see, hmm, what do I write = about=20 today?

Jupiter Diva: How 'bout nothing? Leave Suze and the ML people ALONE = for=20 once.

Celestia: Nooo! Never! I must write another JQ fanfic!

Jupiter Diva: Ha ha, you can't, because you don't know what to write=20 about.

Celestia: I do too! Christmas in Peru!

Jupiter Diva: NOOO! NO MORE HOLIDAYS IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES! YOU = REMEMBER THE=20 LAST ONE!

Celestia: Oh fine, fine. I'll write that Egypt one then.

Jupiter Diva: smirks. Oh yeah. The one you were doing = SO much=20 research on. You actually copied a few things down from the pieces of = paper that=20 hold the necklaces in the Museum of African Art in the Gift shop. This = makes you=20 an authority on Egypt, doesn't it?

Celestia: Shut up, or I'll sick Dragoness and Blue Fire on you again. =

Jupiter Diva: Fine, fine.

Celestia: And now on with the fic!

Disclaimer: I don't own Jonny Quest or anybody except for Sarah, I = guess. I'm=20 not making money, but feel free to send me some anyways, I won't mind. I = obviously don't own Egypt or any of the necklaces I copied the info off = of. So=20 don't quote me on any of this stuff on a history paper or anything. = You'll get a=20 bad grade.

Category: I guess this would be Action or Adventure or something.

Rating: It's not bad or anything. If you are really attached to Race, = maybe,=20 but then you shouldn't be reading any of my fics…hmm, another = thing to=20 think about in Spanish…

Archivers: TAKE IT! TAKE IT PLEASE! (just tell me where it is, and = put my=20 name.)

Summary: The Quests go to Egypt…and get necklaces. Oh boy. = Written=20 pretty much just like the basic JQ: TRA episode. Yep, even the title. = That's why=20 it's dumb-sounding. Be scared now. And now, without further ado or = personality=20 arguments, I give you…

Amulets of the Ancients

Dr. Quest stared out of the window of the Dragonfly and sighed. The = descent=20 was starting already. He had been thinking for over two days, and still = could=20 not find a single thing to say. 'Face it, Benton. You're nervous,' he = thought.=20 And he was. It had been so long since he had last seen her. It had been = before=20 Rachel's death the last time. Sarah Richards obviously had not been too = happy=20 about him having a wife. They hadn't spoken again since that time, even = though=20 they used to be the best of friends. To suddenly get e-mail from her was = surprising to say the least. Especially one inviting him to come and = visit her=20 native Egypt. So, here he was now, still not knowing what he should do. = Race's=20 voice interrupted his thoughts. "Still wondering what to say to = her?"=20 the white-haired, red-shirted man questioned while flipping a series of = switches=20 on the plane's console.

"Yes." Benton answered shortly. He wanted to think = right=20 now. Shut up, shut up, shut up, he thought fervently. I need to know = what I'm=20 going to say.

"Just do what I always do when I meet old friends, and you'll be = fine," Race told him in a way that was meant to be reassuring, but=20 disturbed Benton even more.

"Somehow I don't think kissing her passionately would be=20 appropriate," Benton said dryly. Race hadn't been expecting that = remark, he=20 knew. Race rarely expected any remark from him, he thought, and smirked. = He=20 liked Race, but sometimes he could be very thick, and it was hard not to = take=20 advantage of his stupid statements. He saw Race's face color a little = bit, and=20 heard him mutter something, although he couldn't make out exactly what = it was.=20 The situation was getting awkward, so he yelled out, "Is everyone = buckled=20 up back there?"

There was a chorus of three teenage voices saying, "Yes,"=20 exasperatedly. That was at least the fifth time he had asked that. The = heck with=20 it, he thought.
